An Anatomical Gift donation is a written document by which you may donate your body, organs or body parts after your death to save lives for transplantation, for medical research or otherwise.
You may also create a document refusing to make an anatomical gift.
Many states allow anatomical gifts by will, living will, on your driver's license, or otherwise.
The Uniform Anatomical Gift Act has been adopted by all states — at least the 1968 version. The 1987 version has been adopted in about half of the states. Many states have modifications to the uniform acts which encourage donors to make a gift, and to make a gift easier to accomplish. Review states adopting the Uniform Anatomical Gift Act.
