Here are guidelines on how to use Personal Legal forms.
- Each screen or web page (called a page) of the input form contains instructions for completing this form and places to enter information — which include lists of choices allowed from which you must select.
- You must go through all pages of the form before you can view or preview documents. You may do so in order by pressing the Next Page (and Prior Page) buttons; or, you may select individual pages and go directly to the desired page by pressing the buttons along the left side of each of the input pages.
- For security purposes, the system will lock if there is no activity for more than a few minutes.
- If you have created a secure file, you may enter the information in more than one session, or leave your computer and not lose the information you have entered when the system again requires you to enter your file name and password because of non-use for a period of time.
- When you are totally through with a secure file, you may delete it by entering the secure file using the filename and password you have selected; press the Data File button and select delete file.
- When entering information in the form, some information is required, and some is optional. You will not be able to complete the form until all required information has been entered, or default values approved.
- If required information is left out, not approved, or the system can determine that information was not entered properly, you will receive an error message at the top of the page (screen) where the information should be entered or corrected.
- If you skip some pages you may receive error messages telling you that required information has been left out. But when you look, there may be default values which you want to use. The form requires you to look at and enter a value (or approve the default value) for each item of required information. If you receive an error message about information which has a default value you want to use, simply press the Next Page button and the default value will be approved for use.
- If an error message appears at the top of a page, you can click on the error message to take you directly to the place where you must enter or correct the required information. To go to the information which must be entered, approved or corrected you may also scroll down to it on the page. A label for information which must be entered, corrected or approved usually appears in red.
- When you go to the Preview & Print page, all pages will be checked again to make certain you have looked at and entered (or approved default values of) all items of required information.
- When you have completed entering all information and press the Next Page or Preview & Print page button, the Preview & Print page will pop up. If you are using a popup blocker on your computer, the Preview & Print page may be blocked. Simply click on or press the red View was Blocked banner and the Preview & Print page will pop up.
- The Preview & Print page brings up an instruction sheet which tells what you must do to preveiw, print, save and execute (sign) the completed Simple Will for Maine. You should review the instruction sheet carefully and print a copy of the instruction sheet for reference.
